5 Parent Tips To Prepare For Spring!

5 Parent Tips To Prepare For Spring:

Spring is here! I know mother nature has been hormonal lately with snow in the morning and sun in the afternoon, but it means that summer is coming soon! WackyJacks has had an awesome month with outdoor events, thanks to the lovely weather we have had! Our Easter celebration was awesome! As a mother of two toddlers, I can’t wait for the warm weather to arrive! Warm weather allows us to get outdoors and be creative in our yards and parks. Little children love being outside where they can explore new areas and learn new things! Getting out doors as a family can give you a chance to take a break, reset and connect with nature.

Preparing for warm weather has it’s challenges too so here are some of my best parent recommendations, to prepare you for:

1. Children get dirty.

I embrace the dirt. I don’t stress about it because I expect it to happen. Kids can’t help it. Usually I have a set a clothes that I make them change into before they go outside, or I pack a back up sets of clothes. If you are going to a celebration expect cake and icing everywhere!

2. Sunscreen can be a pain.

Sun screen is absolutely essential but the cream can get onto you or your child’s clothes. I make a little time in the morning to apply sun screen on my kids before we go outside. I prefer the spray as it is quick to apply and doesn’t leave any white marks on clothes. I keep a bottle in my car, purse, diaper bag and anywhere else I can find. If you have the cream it is best to apply before you get dressed for the day.

3. Get their clothes ready.

I already started to purge through all the winter gear. It’s crazy how fast little ones grow. I recommend shopping local. Some great options are grow with me shorts. They are hand made by a company in Sarnia called Little Jolia https://www.facebook.com/LittleJolia. These shorts allow your child to use the same pair over the years as the material is flexible and accommodates all sizes. I am super excited about mine as I won’t have to keep buying shorts every year. My kids can use them until they are 6 years old! This will save you money and you can pick your fabric!

4. Bring everything.

Yes it’s a pain but having everything in a diaper bag or purse will save you head aches down the road. I once ran out of diapers and wipes on a hot summer day. My baby had a blow out and I used the outside of her dirty diaper to wipe and then had her commando until we got home. Sure enough she peed on the way home in the car seat. That day I packed my car full with diapers and wipes. I always keep hats, snacks and water on hand at all times.

5. Practise what you preach

Take care of yourself. We had an outdoor event this month and I completely forgot to put sun screen on. Sure enough my shoulders got their first sun burn of the year. So prepare to get dirty as your kids will be, put your sun screen on, purge your clothes and pack everything including for yourself. We forget to take care of ourselves as we are consistently thinking about our kids. So when you get time, gear your car, purse, diaper bag, duffle bag, whatever, full of essentials for you as well.

Don’t forget to celebrate! June bookings are filling up so book soon if you want to get a WackyJacks party on your books! Can’t wait to see what the month of may will bring us but I am looking forward to the warm weather and the May flowers!
